The wind kicked up from the SW yesterday, so I left Opua and sailed around Tapeka Point for the same bay where I first made landfall. The water is beautiful and the anchorage is calm and protected from this week’s scheduled SW’ly winds.
I happily fished off the boat with my new locally-recommend tackle. . . No luck last night, but today I’ll harvest oysters from the rocks ashore and try them as bait. One of my favorite singlehanders that I met in the Marquesas is here, too, so it’s been wonderful to catch up. Today we hiked over the hill into the quaint town of Russell, and were pleasantly surprised to catch their annual holiday parade!
